Houston Shows Strong Support For Sharp

LEADING STATE REPRESENTATIVES FROM HOUSTON ENDORSE JOHN SHARP FOR UNITED STATES SENATE

(HOUSTON)- United States Senate candidate John Sharp received the enthusiastic endorsement from eight State Representatives from Houston today.  John Sharp’s list of endorsements rapidly grows, from all parts of Texas, as Kay Bailey Hutchison prepares to resign. 

“Texas needs a full-time U.S. Senator because the challenges we face are too enormous to solve with part-time help,” Representative Senfronia Thompson said.  “John Sharp’s expertise on the major issues of the day makes him uniquely qualified to start making a positive difference from the moment he takes the oath of office.”

One of the most respected lawmakers in the Texas House of Representatives, Thompson is also a member of the Democratic National Committee. She is a former schoolteacher, holds a master’s degree in education and is a recognized expert on international law.

(SAN ANTONIO)- U.S. Senate Candidate John Sharp continues to receive impressive endorsements from all parts of Texas.  John added six state representatives from San Antonio today, as his already impressive list of endorsements from all over the state continues to grow. 

“Senator John Sharp makes the best sense for San Antonio,” Representative Roland Gutierrez said.  “He will give us the strongest possible voice in the room when critical decisions, which effect our community, are being made.”

(AUSTIN) — Texas’ Democratic state senators today endorsed John Sharp for the United States Senate, saying that his financial expertise and proven political leadership make him “the strongest possible voice for Texas from his first day on the job.”

 

“This is an economic emergency, and it’s important to send the best we have to solve it,” said Kirk Watson (D-Austin) in announcing the strong show of support.  “John Sharp is our best, and he will give Texas the strongest possible voice in the United States Senate from his first day on the job.”

 

Watson, the former Austin mayor and chairman of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, said voters are looking for seasoned skills in their next U.S. Senator as the nation tries to recover from the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression.

SFA College Democrats Endorse John Sharp for U.S. Senate

First College Group Endorsing in Texas Senate Race Praises Sharp’s Commitment to a Balanced Budget, Economic Security, Hard Work

 

(NACOGDOCHES) — The first group of college Democrats in Texas to endorse a candidate in the upcoming United States Senate special election announced today that they are backing John Sharp, saying that his campaigning over the past year for a balanced budget and economic security shows his commitment to put in the hard work to win the race.

 

“John Sharp has our pledge to work just as hard as he is to give Texas a fresh voice in Washington,” said Laura Barry, president of the Stephen F. Austin Young Democrats.  “He has the vision to lead us into the future — and we will be there with him every step of the way.”

 

Barry said the group voted overwhelmingly to endorse Sharp during a special meeting on Monday.  Sharp later addressed the group to thank them.

Sharp, Gonzales, Guillen Ask Texas Senators to Secure Immediate Health Care Funds for 115,000 Valley Veterans

(RIO GRANDE VALLEY) — Applauding Texas voters for their overwhelming support of Proposition 8 on the statewide ballot a week ago, United States Senate candidate John Sharp and leading Texas House members Veronica Gonzales and Ryan Guillen today asked Texas Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn to use their influence to secure immediate care for the estimated 115,000 military veterans in the Rio Grande Valley who lack access to comprehensive local medical treatment.

 

“While Proposition 8 is a positive step forward for the future of veterans’ health care, many of our Valley veterans continue to need specialized care today,” the three wrote in a letter faxed to the Senators Washington offices.  “We ask you to use your influence to find resources within the current federal budget to help existing South Texas medical facilities get our Valley veterans the immediate care they deserve.”
